Missions Conference at Franklin Road Baptist Church

The conference theme was “My ways are higher . . .” from Isaiah 55:9 – “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways. . .”.

Dr. Mike Norris and the people of Franklin Road Baptist Church were very hospitible and gracious hosts.  It was wonderful to see the heart they have for world evangelism by making it a priority in their ministry.  They have a faith promise goal of $400,000 for this year and I am looking forward to hearing the good news they reached it.

They had several missionary families presenting the burden for the place of God’s call for them.  It is great to see that young couples are surrendering their lives for world missions.

Dr. Norris, who is also the president of FirstBible International, has a great desire to see the unreached people groups of the world have the opportunity to hear the gospel for the first time.  He has lead Franklin Road to adopt the country of Mongolia with the purpose of getting the Bible in their language.  Thank you Dr. Norris and Franklin Road for your leadership for each of us.

Dr. Charles Keen, the founder of FirstBible, was the keynote speaker each night.  Truly, God has put a great burden upon his heart for world evangelism.  He is being greatly used by the Lord to challenge Bible-believing Christians in their thinking about how world evangelism is being done and how we can finish the task God gave to the church.

More must be done by those already involved in world evangelism.  More people must get involved in world evangelism. More must be accomplished by all if we are to bring closure to the Great Commission given by the Lord.

I am so blessed to be named among those who desire to complete the task before us. Will you pray and seek the Lord’s direction for your part in this great endeavor for God’s glory.

The Ledford’s – February 2011 Pray Letter

Funds for Thado Kuki Project

What a great time is had by everyone each Sunday as we give our change offering for the Thado Kuki translation project of FirstBible International.

Adults are asked to dig deep into their pockets and get all of their loose change in their hand.  They then hold it up in the air and one of our children come and get it to bring and put into either a girls or boys bucket on the scales.

There is a wonderful competition each week as the buckets are filled to see who wins with the most weight.  After both the morning and evening services each bucket is counted to see who has won the amount.  Through five weeks thus far the total amount received is $727.00 of our goal of $1000.  I believe that we will exceed our goal in two weeks and there will still be 4 more weeks to go.

Thanks to Heritage Baptist Church and their gift of $500 toward the overall goal of $5000 from the Southeast.  Other churches are also using change offerings to give toward this project.

In a time of economic challenges God’s people still give to that which is worthy of their money.  In this instance I’m glad that the people of University Baptist Church and others here in the Southeast believe that God is worthy and everyone should have a Bible in their “Mother Tongue”.   I ask for other Pastors to maybe have one Sunday for a change offering and set a goal of not less than $100.  If forty churches would do this we will meet our goal by April 1st.  Will you pray and help?
