New Bible Translation Training Center

Crawford Hall Dedication

Crawford Hall Dedication

In the country of India there are over 2000 unreached people groups.  Those are people who have little or no portion of scripture in their native tongue.  One of the purposes of FirstBible International is Bible translation and printing of the Word of God in the native tongue of the over 6000 people groups in the world.

This past week while in Coimbatore, India FirstBible opened Crawford Hall, the FirstBible Bible translation training center on the campus of South India Baptist Bible College (SIBBC).  It was a great blessing to be part of this great opportunity.

The FirstBible Team

The FirstBible Team

The FirstBible Team consisted of Pastor James Overton, Dr. Charles Keen, Pastor Michael Peslak, Pastor Andrew Dennis, Pastor Richard Scheer, myself, Pastor Scott Hooks, Dr. Fred Schindler of FirstBible,  Dr. Ken Fielder of FirstBible, and            Dr. P. D. Cherian of SIBBC.

I felt as though we were much like those God chose to write His Word yet we were to have part in a Bible translating ministry for those who still need the Word of God in their language.  We are from different areas such Ohio, New York, Connecticut, North Carolina, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and Georgia.  While from different locations we were very much united in the work that God had placed before us.  I believe that our lives nor our ministries will be the same after this trip.

Please pray for this new opportunity to reach the unreached and the unengaged people groups of India and other parts of Asia with the Word of God.  Would you be willing to ask the Lord what He would have you to do to reach the unreached people of the world?

FirstBible Pastors Conference in Coimbatore, India

Over 600 attended each night meeting.

Over 600 attended each night meeting.

FirstBible International was invited to preach a Pastors Conference at the South India Baptist Bible College in Coimbatore, India on February 2 – 4, 2010.  I was privilege to participate in this conference in which each night service was attended by over 600 people.  What a sight to behold as nearly 300 pastors from all over India came and joined the college students during this time.

Dr. Charles Keen and Dr. Ken Fielder led the FirstBible team of pastors from here in the states which included Dr. Fred Schindler, Pastor Scott Hooks, Pastor Richard Sheer, Pastor Andrew Dennis, Pastor James Overton, and myself.  What an honor to serve the Lord with these pastors as we sought to glorify God in encouraging, challenging, training and edifying these national pastors from India.

Preaching Tuesday Night

Preaching the Tuesday night service.

I was also privileged to preach the closing service on Tuesday evening.  The Lord moved on my heart to preach on “The Value of One” from Joshua chapter two.  After about ten to fifteen minutes into the message as I was preaching about the blood of Christ the power went out and I had to continue preaching without the aid of lights or notes.  It was then the Lord gave strength to carry on.  The Lord moved and received all the glory for what was accomplished.

This was truly a trip that has done much to stir my heart for the cause of World Evangelism.  Never has there been a time when we could affect the lives of people around the world for the cause of Christ.  With all the means of technology today we could and I believe we should do much more, more quickly and efficiently in accomplishing the Great Commission which the Lord has entrusted to His church.  He did not give us a task to do that could not be done.  We must remember the ultimate purpose of World Evangelism is for God’s glory.

News from Coimbatore, India

In the words of the Apostle Paul, “The grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared unto all men”.  This is truly apparent here in Coimbatore.  We have had part in preaching and teaching in the FirstBible Pastor’s Conference here at the South India Baptist Bible College.  During our stay we had the Inauguration Ceremony opening the FirstBible Translation Training Center.  This will be used to train missionaries to do the work of translation throughout the country of India.  When you consider that 1/6 of the worlds population is in India and that there are over 2000 people groups here that do not have any portion of the Word of God in their language, we must get busy if we are to reach them in our lifetime.

God never gave the church the commission to “preach the gospel to every creature” without knowing it could be done.  Would you pray that God would move upon your heart to help us help you to see that the world is given the Word of God in their language?
